Try carfax it costs money but if you really want to know its the best way. If the car is at a dealer they will provide it for you( Carfax Report) best of luck. This report will give you the history of the vehicle and will include if it has been in any accidents or not. Also if you have a reliable mechanic then maybe bring him/her with you for a better look at the engine. If the car is being sold by a person not a dealer and they do not want you to take it to a mechanic then there maybe something wrong with it.
