Insurance wise they might not be willing to let you test drive a car on your own, but they absolutely should not only be willing, but should *pester* you to test drive a vehicle with a sales associate.

If they are telling you no test drives, take your business elsewhere. Driving is the fundamental purpose and operation of a car, if you can't test that part then what's the point? That's like buying a television but not being allowed to see the picture first.ridiculous!

Sometimes it may be a small dealership. They may not have enough sales people to take you on a test drive. (they usually wont just let you take off in their car) Other cases, it may be bad merchandise.
