I have a European Honda Accord (basically a Acura TSX) - Can I import this car to California?

Question:
California has strict emission standards, of course - and some cars for sale in the other 49 states cannot be brought into CA. How does one know with 100% certainty that they can import a specific model? Would not want to import it only to be told it must be exported or "surrendered for destruction"...THANKS!
