Unless I was a mechanic or knew cars really well I wouldn't buy leased or rental cars. People who have no long term investment in a car tend to abuse them more. Ebay has a link to a place where you can do a free basic back ground check using the vintage number. But I'd definitely hesitate. I wouldnt if i were you, let me explain why.Firstly it was a lease car so whoever owned it probably didnt give 2 shits about it and ragged it no end. Small dealers can be quite dishonest esspecially if they havnt sold a car in a long time so be careful with what he tells you. Not everything is true.

Ex lease cars are great, they will have faultless service history. If dealer is local and offers a warranty then go for it, if not buy one from a auction directly and save about 800 quid but lose the peace of mind of the warranty. Make sure you check the warranty is decent and not one that only covers major problems.
