Should I buy a 1987 Toyota Tercel Hatchback?

I have a limited icome and found a 1987 Toyota Tercel hatchback with 180,000Kms ( 112,000 miles) for sale for $2,000 Canadian.It has very little rust and comes with a 6 month warrenty? Any-one out there have one? An opinion?

They are very reliable,but does seem a little pricey..Timing belts being changed every 80,000 miles is an absolute must!I owned one for two years and it was overall a good vehicle:)

Drive it first... that seems REALLY high for an 87 Tercel. I sold one not too long ago in Vegas for $450 and it only had 70000 miles on it.

A Toyota that has been well cared for - especially a Tercel should hold up fine. So it's not really a worry over the mechanicals. That just seems really high for a car that is 20 years old and kinda of a lame little car. I don't think that car cost $2000 NEW in 87!

I would check Kelly Blue Book. I am positive you'll find that car isn't quite worth that kind of money.

YES. 180,000kms is nothing. They run like sewing machines. -Parts (if needed) may be expensive to replace.
