why is gas always sold with 9/10ths added on to the price per gallon? for example, gas is $2.35 9/10 per gallon. why the 9/10?

Did you know that the oil company's calibrate the gas pumps to keep a percentage of the fuel you are supposed to get?
I know this,,because it used to be my job to do the calibrations.
also,,you pay for the gasoline which is in the hose between the pump and the nozzle,,,but you never get it.
The 9/10's is probably a compensation value for taxes,,or temperature variations,,,,Gasoline expands and contracts with temperature variations.
