Question:
Drove by one tonight, already closed, but curious how they work. They have an office there, but the cars in the lot say for sale by owner, but no other contact info. Guessing its like a consignment store for clothes, but since there is an office there, when it is open, wondering if the salesperson can do test drives and negotiate prices. Seems like a good idea - is it for the seller?

Im Looking for the ultimate car?
most normally for sale by owner on a lot means its a consignment sale.the dealership is selling it for the owner at a commission .the dealership can't really negotiate prices but they can either put you in contact with the owner or submit your deal for you and then you wait to hear from the original owner.you have no warranty with a consigned sale, unless it is manufacture warranty and it transfers to next owner.More Questions & Answers ...
