Is the New Beetle the happiest car around?

I'm looking for a daily driver with a little pep, but also character. Character is important to me, as I drive far to work and have lots of time to bond with my car. I need a car that gives me a happy feeling, and also doesn't brake down too much. Thank you :)

Go for it! They have loads of character, and are good on gas.
Just watch out for big maintenance items like the timing belt/water pump combo. They have to be done, or damage might result. My NB makes me smile, and I have to confess I talk to her sometimes...
