How can I sell a car out of state if I lost the original title?

Question:
I got into a car accident while driving cross-country and don't have insurance to cover the repair costs. The place that towed the vehicle offered to buy the car but I lost the title to the vehicle in the midst of moving. How can I sell this vehicle out of state without the original title? The car isn't even registered in the state where the title was given. Am I completely screwed? Is there an easy out?
