It's probably not so much of if you can get credit or not, it has to do with your age. Since anyone under the age of 18, legally can't be held responsible in any contract, most, if not all dealerships would be fools to sign a contract with you, unless you were to get a co-signer over the age of 18, and they would be a fool, because if you don't make the payments, they would be responsible to do so. Most likely not. Credit issue aside, being a minor you could not be held to a contract. Therefor you are unlikely to be able to purchase a car until 18. If you have money for the car I expect they would sell it to you. You will not get credit as you would need a full time employment to prove you can afford the credit. Also I am not sure about the USA but you also need to have insurance in case you have an accident and I am not sure how a 16 year old get that in the USA. A lot of places will have a problem with your age. You are a minor, and you can't be held to a contract. So unless you pay cash and even then there is a question about that. My husband was a car dealer and you for one have to be 18 to buy a car.It's not just the dealer but its also that they can't find a bank that will loan you that amount of money to a minor.And yes it is also you're credit but you can't build it up untill you'r are 18 to prove you can make monthly payments.Also when you do buy a car and don't have the credit,they will approve you if you have at least 2 to 4 thousand down.Like my husband bought a pick-up and it was 9 thousand and he gave 4 thousand down and even though he had bad credit he still got approved because he was willing to give hafe of his own money.I would start saving while you are young and live with your'e parents and can save a good amount.Also make sure you save money incase you're car breaks down.More Questions & Answers ...
