was interested in was $37,550----------but out the door price
was $48,375.. The salesman explained that the difference
is the profit, called the "second sticker"!! WELL SORRY, I'm
not about to pay $11,000 in PURE PROFIT.!! I'll go steal the
car before I pay all that profit.!!

Let's say you want a car that costs $20,000 retail. (sticker) The dealership did not pay $20,000 for that car. They are already making a profit. That's why it's called RETAIL.

You go to a bank or credit union, and get a car loan for the $20,000. Make sure the money is deposited in your checking account.
Then you go to the dealership, test drive the car, and then the salesman will say "Ok, let's do the paperwork." He'll then try to tack on all these charges and fees, blah blah blah.
Purchased new car and want to return it?
You then pull out your checkbook, write out a check for $18,000, and hand it to the salesman. Tell him, "This is a check for $18,000. This is what I'm paying for that car. Go ahead and verify the funds. If this is not acceptable to you, I'll go down the street to the (other) dealership and give it to them. Make your choice."

The salesman will then say "Uh, uh, lemme talk to my manager". He'll go into someone else's office, tell the guy that they're about to lose a sale, and then he'll come back and say "No problem! We verified funds on the check, and just sign here and you can drive it away."

P.S. take the other $2,000 and put it in a CD at a bank. You'll earn interest to counteract some of the interest you'll pay on the car loan.

The sticker is for either "paint and fabric protection" (usually clearcoat spray and Scotchgard for the seats), not even $100 real cost. Or even "additional dealer profit" on hot models. Here's what I think would be a good way, if you like the car, say "Tell you what. I'll buy today if you remove that extra price from the negotiations". If they are serious about selling (and you are serious about buying) they will remove it. Why would you buy a new car at $38k when you can find ALL the same options on the same car that is used for around $28k?2 reasons NOT to buy new...
1) The cost (same car, same options, used...costs less)

You dont even look at second sticker, that's how.The MSRP price INCLUDES PROFIT. (INVOICE actually includes a few hundred bucks profit too) The second sticker is 100% profit over the profit they already get. Refuse to even consider it a discount to work down from 2nd sticker.
You should bargain DOWN from MSRP, never bargain down from second sticker. If they try to give you a load of crap, walk. Go to a dealership that doesn't play that game.
