I am looking to buy a used car, something no too expensive,is 100,000miles on a car bad?

Question:
does it matter what type of car it is?

Answers:

What's your next car?

If the car is a toyota corola or camry, newer than a 1995, and was well maintained and driven wisely for the 100,000 miles, then it is a good buy. But get it checked out thoroghly by a trusted mechanic before purchasing. If the current owner objects to you oing this, then don't purchase. They are hiding defectsz that they don't want you to know about.

Where can I find a free info source of current dealer holdbacks?

Back in the seventies and eighties 100,000 miles was about all you would get out of a car, but now that is about half way into a car's life. It really doesn't matter what brand of car it is, as long as it is a car from about '91 or newer you should be fine with that mileage.

What are good sites to find used cars?

I wouldn't worry about a car with 100,000 on it. I have never owned a vehicle with less than 150,000. I have had 4 cars that I sold after getting them above 250,000. Todays cars can go for a long time. If you buy one, check to see if the owner kept service records. Oil changes and routine maintenance at regular intervals will help you get many more miles out of the car.
