What exactly is involved in trading in a vehicle towards the purchase of another?

Question:
I recently found a car at a local dealer that I'm thinking about trading in my pick-up for, but what exactly is involed in doing so? Do I have to take the truck's tags off myself and turn them back into DMV or will the dealer do this for me? BTW, my truck is paid off and I have the title in-hand.

Play hard to get with the salesman over price. Don't seem too anxious to trade. Keep your emotions in check, you are playing poker.
