MSRP or invoice price? which one do you go by....?

Question:
when looking up cars on the net, do you go by MSRP or invoice price - because they are sometimes drastically different. also what is the difference, why two forms of pricing is nessecary?

Answers:

Auto loan question?

MSRP is manufactures suggested retail price, this is what they want the dealer to sell it at in order to make a healthy profit. Invoice is what the dealership pays to get the car. Don't ever pay MSRP. find out what the invoice price is and work the dealer from there.

Is it cheaper and safer to physically go buy a car overseas then just ordering it from the net?

Go to www.edmunds.com and research the make, model, MSRP and dealer invoice. There is good information on this site.
