I am in the market for a new car and I have narrowed my choices down to the Lexus IS 250 AWD and the Audi A4 2.OT Quattro. I live in an area that experiences 4 distinct seasons: lots of snow in the winter, lots of rain in the fall & spring, fairly humid summers with occassional thunderstorms. Both cars are from reputable companies and have OK to great reliability. Audi has the "legendary" quattro AWD but the interiror is a little lack-luster from my point. Lexus has simple elegance, but the practicality of their vehicles are a bit questionable.
Should i buy the vintage beetle or mini?
I want this car to speak of understated luxury, and will not get my tires slashed like my last car did. Also it must be able to handle harsh winters with little maintenance to worry about. Both would require a navigation system, premium sound, and heated seats. Which of these cars would best suit my geographic location?

Go with the Audi - I loved my A4 sedan until the very last day I sat in it, and I am on my second Audi now. They are like tanks in the snow. The quattro is incomparable. You will not get tired of the interior. They are extremely well made, and are classy and understated, as you're looking for. They come with any option you desire and in my opinion, are among the most beautiful cars on the road today. And they aren't on most thieves' radar as the Japanese cars are. BUT - they will require more care and maintenance than the Lexus. That is really the only trade-off. They are not as reliable. But as with most cars, take care of it, and it will take care of you. You will not be disappointed with the Audi.your better off wit the A4, check the reviews for the is 250 on yahoo autos people arent too happy with it.
Here's a comparison of the two. Says that since the Audi has front-wheel drive (and the IS doesn't), it may be better in inclement weather. Hope it helps.
