Question:
I really like the look of these, I won't be using it for off road, mainly just local use, school run etc. They seem fairly good value for money, and as I'm lookng to buy a 99-01 model, and have £3,500 to spend, they seem ideal for me.
What is a really good "first car" for a guy who just got his driver's license (20-21 years of age)?
I'm viewing one tomorrow, it's just had a head gasket replaced, so I'm thinking this might be a good buy, seeing as I've just read that they can be prone to gaskets blowing!? Is there anything else I should be looking for/asking? And would you rather buy privately or from a garage? I feel that private owners may try and hide problems, but a garage is more likely to have found the problems and fixed them?
Which is better for the US economy, buying a Honda made in the US or a Chevy made in Mexico?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answers:
If you want to buy a freelander, DONT buy a petrol model,i work closely with a landrover dealership, and can agree with every bad thing said about them, head gaskets have been a problem, inferior materials used in the manufacture of these gasketts has been blamed, i beleive, but im not so sure,i have just bought td4 freelander,BMW diesel engine and am quite confident in this, good luck
I need a new car, but what kind?

What is the difference between dealer invoice and MSRP.?
My friend loved Freelanders till they started breaking down for no reason. He stupidly bought another new one even after all the problems with the first and ending up getting rid of it after only twelve months.Yesterday, I saw a 'Plastic Police' Traffic Management Freelander which had ventured onto the wet grass verge on a motorway sliproad. It was being towed off by another TM Freelander which had'nt ventured onto the grass.
Nuff said!!
