I bought a car with an open title and the owner signed it but now shes vanished ,how do i take ownership?

i ran into the same problem,if the titles been signed youll need a bill of sale from the seller,then you can have the car in your name,go to the tag and title office.if you cant get a bill of sale ,you will have to get a bonded tiltle,its a bond you put up for x number of years,to insure the auto is not stolen,hint the tag office dosnt know if the seller is really the one who signed the bill of sale,got it

If the car title is from out of state you do not need any proof that the original owner actually signed. Just take it to a notary and get it transfered. Even from in state, many states don't regulate title transfers like that.
