Question:
If you checked a CARFAX report before buying a car and it was accident free, but then re-checked again when going to sell the car and had an accident show up prior to you purchasing the car, what do you do?
Can I legally retrieve a car not fully paid for from the buyer if he has the V5?
I am asking because this is lowering the selling price of the vehicle.
Anyone have this happen to them?

I don't completely understand your question. Did you get a report and it said no accidents, then bought the car and when you decided to sell it get another report? This time the report said that there was an accident, before you bought the car?Carfax has been sued for not disclosing to customers in the past that their reports do not contain all information about a vehicle. Infact they lack alot of information. It is hit and miss.
It can be great if information shows up that is negative and helps you decide not to purchase a vehicle.
But you cannot trust that nothing has happened to the vehicle just because it doesn't show up in the report. There are lots of things they dont know. And really, their information sources are few.
I had a customer who had owned a vehicle since it was new. When he went to sell the vehicle he pulled a carfax report. The report said the vehicle had been serviced, repaired and other things, in cities and towns he had never been before! Where the heck do they get this information?
It's completely unreliable and obviously causes lots of problems.
Anyhow, I don't think there is anything you can do. The accident reported was prior to you purchasing the vehicle (meaning someone else had the car when it was in an accident) correct?
Was the carfax report current, a few days before you purchased the vehicle? Or was it old?
Go to a different dealership, the dealers are frauds.

How long have you owned this? Get a copy of the original CARFAX from the dealer you bought it from then get a copy of the current CARFAX that now shows the accident prior to your purchase. Send copies of both to CARFAX and the dealer you purchased the car from.Realtime Oil Prices in your area?

Also keep in mind that companies like State Farm do not report to Carfax. It's a wonderful tool.. but it's not 100% reliable.
