You will ruin your speakers. The ohms are different. Home speakers are not rated the same as car speakers.You have to buy a ac to dc converter, make sure you get one with enough amperage to power the amp tho.. look on ebay i saw some on there other than that i dont know where any stores are with them, if you find out let me know

check your amp and see what the power draw is .. it should give that info on the label ...your looking for amps not watts ..
again as I said you might get a hum but if you play your music loud enough you wont hear it anyway .

As far as the speaker wiring I'm assuming your car amp is going to be 4 ohms and your home speakers are going to be 8 ohms (that's the standard for home speakers but you can buy 4 and 6 ohm speakers). Assuming 8 ohm speakers wire them in series and your amplifier will see a 4 ohm load. See the links below for instructions.
