i was thinking about buying a 5 channel 900 watt amp for 2 400 watt subs.it has a max power output of 400Wx1 @ 2 ohm

If you got a 5 ch. amp, you'd only be able to use either 2 ch.'s @2Ohms each or bidge 4 ch.'s into 2@4Ohms each.Ok i just bought 3 kicker l7s 2 ohm in would like to know whats the best amp?
Get a 2 ch. amp rated @ or right above your subs RMS power rating.
For ex. if each of your subs are 400wrms, get an amp that gives them 400wrms each -at the right impedance.

if your just using it for your subs your better off getting a mono amp. are the subs svc or dvc and what ohm are they? if svc 4ohm you can get a 2ohm stable mono amp. its easier, you get better power and usually cheaper
