Remote problems for headunit?

ok i have a pioneer head unit it is a 6800 mp model and i have everything hooked up right but my remote control will not work for it i have the battery in it and everything

If this is a new unit, it could be possible that the battery is bad. Also check the contacts where the battery rests in the remote sometimes there is a small piece of plastic covering the contact point on the remote. Been through this before. Hope this helps.
