Can a new car radio kill the battery?

Question:
I recently purcahsed a new sony radio and had the electronic store install it in a Honda Accord. Five hours after it was installed the battery was dead. The battery is about five to six weeks old an the auto store ran a diag. test on the battery (charge / start system) and found no problems. Can a new radio not properly installed drain the battery? Who should I take the car to for inspection? (Battery dealer or the electronic store)

If you can listen to the radio with the ignition off, they wired it wrong.
Take it back to the radio shop.

What is the best subs, box, and amp combo?

sounds like it is hooked up to run hot all the time. call the manufacturer of the radio to get a competent registered installer, i have a name and number of my guy who is an expert and he is mobile, meaning he goes to where u are. obviously the place who installed it isn't trained properly. this is not a co-incidence

How to hook a light toggle switch to 800 what amp?

There are a host of issues that might cause your battery to running low. When stores install radios, they typically leave the door open for a few hours as they splice and tape your new unit in. My tahoe had its windows tinted and they left the ignition forward causing the T.V.'s to drain the battery while they did the install.

Car audio, how to?

Its quite possible that an improper ground or other issue causes drainage. If you have ruled out the Batt. and alternator, and have that in writing, I would approach the installer with the batt receipt, the diagnostic, and the reality that there wasn't a drain prior to the install. OR.you can have an auto mechanic run a few tests to determine where the constant drain is occurring. Hint: I would approach the installer PREPARED (with paperwork) first.hell of allot cheaper.

If you have an alpine stereo installed for $189....?

Yes and that was due to bad installation. I have had 3 car stereos installed on my 98 RAV4 through Best Buy and never had battery problems. I even had 2 amps installed as well but the installers had to make me buy this 200-dollar thing that would not drain the battery.

My Chevy came with XM satellite radio but I rather have Sirius can it play using the XM receiver ?

If you are getting a drain through the radio's power supply it could eventually drain down the battery if it was improperly installed, I would pull the fuse for the radio and see if the drain continues,if the drain does not stop there is another short somewhere.
