Question:
I am good with installing sound and video equipment in my car; however I want to be sure I do this right..

When radio goes digital will my car radio still pick up stations ok ?
A second battery is just a band-aid for a problem that will return.Since you asked this in car audio....
Something to consider...this is an example...
To calculate the current draw of an amplifier, multiply the number of channels by the RMS watts per channel (a 2 channel amp rated at 2000 watts RMS per channel would be 4000 watts). Double it to account for amplifier inefficiency (4000 watts X 2 = 8000 watts), then divide by the average output voltage of an alternator, 13.8 volts (8000 divided by 13.8 = 579 amps). Since the average music signal requires about 1/3rd of the average power in a test tone, divide by 3 (579 amps divided by 3 = 193 amps).

This is an average approximation of current draw and can go higher. So I would gather between 194 and 289 amperes for this example.

my cousin is installing my 2 12" solobaric w/his 2000 watt ma audio amp?
compact car is about 35 amps
mid-sized car is about 65-75 amps
SUV is about 145 amps
What is the best way to get at the rear speakers in an Olds Alero? any info would help, thanks?
Calculate 40% of the amperes of the alternator you have now. This is the average current the car uses when running. Add this number to the approximate average current draw of the amps, and you will come up with the actual size of alternator you need.
How do you remove the door panel on A 98 sunfire to install new speakers.?
If the number you come up with is the same as what your alternator supplies, you need to take no action.
i want to add more "volume" in my car stereo?
Remember postive to positive and negative to negative. Clamp it down so it can't move and it must be in a place that it vented. Not inside the car.My headunit has Preout, can I still hook up 2 amps?
two batteries in a vehicle, are do able, but consider, either one very power full altornator may be required to support the power demands, like maybe a 200 amp alt. very expensive.any way are U sure ya want all that auido power any way
How long will a car radio installation take?
I know it can be done too..a friend had a second battery in his boot but sorry I don't know how but I did find some info that may be of help to you. Just check out the link.Batteries can be added in parrallel or in series, one raises your voltage while the other raises your amps. If you put another battery in your car, MAKE sure that you put the positive terminal to the positive terminal. Then the negative terminal to the negative terminal. This will maintain the 12 volt system, but up your amps. If you connect a positive to a negative you will double the voltage and fry everything in your car. Many large equipment vehicles operate on a 24-volt system for the extra power requirements. Your car on the other hand cannot handle that voltage. I can not guarantee you that uping the amps in your vehicle by adding another battery will not have adverse affects on your electrical system, but I don't think it should be a problem. Most diesel vehicles have a second battery just for that reason, needing the extra power to start the engine.
How do I connect my IPOD shuffle with my Sony Explode car stereo?
It basically goes + to + and - to -. So long as you don't get a junky battery, it doesn't matter where you put it, most people have their add-on batteries in the trunk. But you have to make sure it won't move and also make sure nothing will mess with the battery, so make a case or something for it and bolt it down to the trunk floor. If you haven't already done so, you should get a high output alternator. It will work better than adding a second battery. And don't upgrade your electrical system unless you're actually over drawing current. It won't make your system sound better or anything unless your amps really do need the extra current.Ringing in Ear at Low/Any Volume with new Car Stereo?
put it in parallel (pos to pos, neg to neg) in order to keep 12V, but buy two new batteries not just one and replace your old one. over time, batteries develop a kind of memory as they are charged and discharged, which means that if one battery is at a lower voltage than the other then the other will waste it's energy trying to help charge the lower one. that kind of uneaven charging/discharging is very detrimental to battery life and reliability and will totally negate the very reason you put it in there for. typically, not a very good idea. most systems (unless they are VERY LARGE) don't require an extra battery, and usually do better with a larger alternator (which you'll need if you go with an extra battery, anyways). capacitors also help a lot, generally required if you got more than 800WRMS in your car. they help maintain proper voltage at your amp's terminals when a big bass hit might otherwise drop system voltage low enough to make your lights flicker or the amp to turn off on protection. i recommend 1/2 Farad for every 500WRMS. batteries are a lot trickier than most people would ever imagine, and installing a larger alternator and/or capacitor is a lot easier and cheaper. You don't say what car you have and your ordinary cars don't have room under the hood for another battery. You can get a kit to install it in the trunk. Use heavier cables than normal because of the length, and make sure it is fastened down good.
Most vehicles have high output alternators and they can handle as many batteries as you can put on them, they just won't charge up as fast if they are completely discharged.
