Question:
Hi, im looking for a spot to ground my amp in a 01 Monte carlo. I am not experienced enough to run it back to the engine block, so any ideas?!!
Answers:
JL Audio or RockFord Fosgate Or just plain Sony speakers?
all the answers are correct but make sure you first sand or grind any paint off the metal surface, when you drill your hole make sure there is nothing underneath (i.e gas tank, lines, wiring.) crimp a spade terminal to your ground wire and make sure you put a washer on the end of the screw that will secure your ground, once your finished if possible put some silicone glue on top of every thing to seal any moisture. obviously you want all this out of sight. its best to use a grounding block for multiple amps( similar to a fuse block _) good luck..Mount it to bare metal. Usually the body of the car, or frame pieces.
Find a close by place on the frame, drill a starter hole, and then put in a self tapping screw. Take it back out and put the ground lug there, then tighten the screw back up.
what are the disadvantages of having stock stereo hooked up with some sub's??
