i put the wires color to color...i have a 91 ford taurus and it has premium sound but the guy at the audio place said i can get by with a harness that is non premuim sound...i have it color to color...i have power but no sound...the blue antenna and orange wires on the harness are not hooked up cuz the orange is the dimmer and the blue there is no other place to wire it to.what may i have done wrong.

Unplug the two plugs from the factory amp, connect them directly into the bypass harness and your speaker outputs will be connected directly to the deck wiring.
On the other hand, your vehicle may have bypass plugs already in place behind the head unit---many Fords do. If you're using a harness that looks like this one: http://ak.buy.com/db_assets/prod_lrg_ima... and you found a plug inside the deck cavity that fits it, then you won't need the bypass harness at the amplifier. However, you should still pull the plugs from the factory amplifier so it's not part of the speaker circuit. If you haven't done that, it might be causing impedance problems at the deck and shutting it down.

Sounds like the speaker wires you hooked up maybe loose or a bad ground, look closer at the speaker wires you hooked up to the plug, check them twice or 3 times, if you messed up 1, you messed up 2. if that doesnt work im not sure.HELP! my hornet car alarm Immobiliser has malfunctioned, car will not start?
the first answer is correct, but you dont havta go to ford to know whats wrong with your deck, just dont touch the power or ground wires to the speaker wires, and youll be fine, all you havta do is make sure you have power to your new deck and then the rest of the wires touch and play with and see where the sound is coming from to know which wires match, hope this helps, peace!I provided a link for the color coding. Go to Wal-Mart and pick up a harness. They come complete with directions (with a pictured diagram) That shows you exactly what wires to connect to one another. Most speaker wires when using these harnesses are Grey,white,blue, and green with one side solid and the other with a stripe. Your speaker connections in your car will most likely be different in color. But if you connect your CD (head unit) wires to your harness wires correctly all you should need is to plug those into your cars harness and plug in the antenna.More Questions & Answers ...
