Question:
I have two subwoofers but they are not in the correct size box.
I want to put them in a ported box with the correct measurements. and i want to have it tuned to a certain frequency.
Where do i go to have this box built?
Is this a good idea in wiring this whoel audio system?
For example:
Circuit City
Best Buy
An audio store
A wood shop
etc...??
Do I really need to worry about my car cd player's faceplate?
Where can i have a ported box built for my subs at the correct measurements?
Answers:
Can a regular cd player play a rewritable burned cd?
A reputable audio shop could do this for you. But be prepared to pay an arm and a leg for it. You can also try www.caraudio.com/vb and post your request on the boards. There are several people willing to build custom boxes and ship them to you. If you'd like to get the proper air volume and port dimensions, try playing around with a program called WinISD.If its just going to be a simple rectangular enclosure, you could always build it yourself...
if you contact the speaker mfr., they should be able to give you the exact measurements needed. i wouldnt fool with the likes of the list you have here. they just want your $$, and may not know as well as the mfr. :)
I would go to a audio store. There are many things that must be considered when building a box for subs. first off if they are going to be placed in your trunk, then they will have to make sure that the box will fit. second, each different type of sub will require a different size of cubic inches of space so air can travel correctly. I would look in the phone book in your local area and try to go with the people that have been around longer. Do not take it to a Best Buy or Circuit City. They usually do not have the know how or resources to build such a thing. I know that in Cleveland, Ohio there is a place called Lewis Electronics. I have had them build me a box before and they did a great job.
