Subwoofer question?

Question:
so i have 2 alpine type r dual voice coils rated at 4 ohms and i want to wire them downto 2 ohms buti want to know if i should because i have everyhting i need and the amp i have is the bd 1000 and that is rated at 1000 rms at 4 ohms, i think but whenever i go on a website i can never get the right description so i was wondering if someone could tell me if i should keep my subs at 4 ohms or make them 2 ohms?? and what the heck the specs on the bd 1000 is???

Answers:

Where can i go to get an aftermarket CD deck installed in my car?

According to the specs I found, that amp (provided this IS the right amp I looked up) is 2ohm stable. So running your Alpine's at 2ohms should give you the full 1000 watts to them.

What is an ohm?

the bd1000 is 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms. if you were to wire the 2 subs in parallel it would be a 1 ohm load. wire it in series and it would be a 4 ohm load. the rating of that amp at 4 ohms is only 500, putting 250 rms into each sub. that amp is also under rated and probably puts about 600 rms at 4 ohms and 1100 at 2 ohms. i would return them and exchange them with the 2 ohm models so you can wire it in parallel to give the full 500 rms to each sub. had those subs before and blew them easily with a bd 1500, wouldn't recommend those subs.
