Question:
My speaker has a max power rating of 800watts, 150 rms. What gauge speaker wire should i run from amp>sub? If i don't have big enough wire, could i take 2 smaller wires, solder them together, and use the double wire as one wire?
Answers:
Can you use 8-gauge wire to power a 4-gauge amp or will that mess the amp up???
If I were you I would just go to your local electronics store and ask someone that is working in the car audio department. They should know.If i hook two 12's and a 15 sub up, will it sound good, or should i not mix different sized subs?
12 gauge or 14 yes you can solder wires togetherWhat is a good website to buy high current alternators from for import cars?
22 gauge is the minimum but I would splurge and go with 18 gauge. The larger guage will have a lower resistance and as such provide a slightly better (and noticeable) sound.Car radio . dont know code number?
As for your idea you could do that but it will increase the resistance factor by two. More resistance means lower sound quality. Spend $10 at Radio Shack for the right stuff.
Which colour wires are what on a rover 416 car radio?
no matter what i always use 12 gauge, but you could either go 12 or 14 gauge. always think about the future, so you could get 12 gauge now and have it be the best quality and later upgrade and still have excellent quality from the speaker wire. also remember to stay within your budget. the lower the gauge, the higher the price per length.dont solder them together, that is retarted, just buy some 14 gauge wire, u can get it from any car audio shop for so cheap, they have spools of it, unroll some and cut it, they charge by the foot, dont buy a wiring kit they are overpriced wire in pretty colored plastic, and whoever said ur doublin the impednce needs to think about that for a second, doing that does nothing at all, cuz in the end all the power is going to go through both wires he solders together, and comes out at the other end the same thickness, it doesnt split the power between the wires, so dont bother doin it, pointless and foolish
go buy some lamp cord for 15 cents a foot
