Can you wire a 4 ohm sub to play at 2 ohms?

I have a alpine amp that runs 700x1 at 2 ohms and 400x1 at 4 ohms. My 2 12's are both single 4 ohm coil. Is there anyway i can run them at 2 ohms to get more power?

yes! wire them in parallel with each other and the amp.
go from the amp's (+) term to the first and second speaker's (+) term. then go from the amp's (-) term to the first and second speaker's (-) term. i don't know what kind of box you have, but this should work for most.

now we just multiply both sides by x

so two 4ohm voice coils in parallel yeilds 2 ohms. in your case, we could just as easily have said to halve the resistance of one speaker to find the total parallel value, but i wanted to show you how to apply this to any value voice coils.
