Rockford Fosgate will be the route to go. They are getting alot of crap nowadays because of their affiliation to big box stores (Best Buy, Crutchfield, etc.) But rest assure they are less distortion, which unlike another contributor said is very important, distortion is the biggest killer of speakers today!! Distortion isn't just a sound, when a speaker distorts alot of the cause is the amplifiers lack of control on the speaker allowing the cone to move in a non linear motion. If you look at the inside (cut a way) of a woofer (or any speaker for that matter) you will notice the voice coil of the speaker sets inside of the magnet. The space in the magnet where the voice coil sets is called a voice coil gap, and if you notice there's not alot of space between the coil and the magnet, there cant be or you will lose the magnetic force in the motor Assembly once electricity (voltage) is applied to the copper voice coil. Well, when a woofer distorts, it allows the woofer to move in a non linear motion also causing the voice coil to rub the magnet inside that gap. rubbing causes friction (is friction) friction causes heat, heat causes alot of things, glue break down, even welding itself (the speaker cone) in one position!!! you have alot to lose by distortion. although it may be a little more expensive, save yourself the headache and buy the Rockford, you ll be alot happierhey man i just got a hifonics bxi2006d amp wired down to 1 ohm powering 2 kicker s15l7's and it is much louder than anticipated. the only thing is when i play it about 2/3rds of the way up it starts to sound distorted. but i guess that is to be expected. If i were you i would go for the hifonics and im guessing ur getting the dual 2 ohm models and wiring the amp at 2 ohms.
Can I install a double-din VW stereo in my 2001.5 VW Passat that came with a single-din?
RF amps really aren't getting great reviews lately. Hifonics are great for the money.I would say spend the least amount of money you can.
I just don't see the point in buying something for more than it's worth.
Go with Hifonics. They have a little more distortion but, for the $, it's way worth it, IMO.
Remember, price isn't everything, stat's are (as long as they're CEA-compliant).
Is this a good deck and good speakers to go with the deck?
Good Luck!
