How do i put the code in my ford escort radio?

Question:
ive found a code in the car which is for the radio but having no manual for the car means i dont know how to put it in.
the screen flashes 'code' at the moment. when i press the buttons it changes the numbers and ive done this till it shows the code i have.
what do i do now?
ive pressed other buttons on the unit and the screen then changes to 'wait 30..wait 29. wait 28' and so on for 30 mins but then goes back to 'code'.

If i remove my car stereo from my car that has a code will this damage it- or will i just need the code before

if its a 3 digit code use buttons 1-3 to enter it and then press 4

My Pioneer DEH-P4500MP isn't sending a signal to the amp, wrong setting maybe?

for a 4 digit code press 1-4 to enter it and then press either select (if it has a select button) or button 5

your either using the wrong number or inputing wrongly.
if code is 1 2 3 4 press button 1 until you get (1) button 2 until you get(2) and so on.
when you have done the 4 numbers press and hold number 5 or the am/fm button and the set should come on.
