Portable gps navigation?

I am thinking about buying a protable gps navigation . there are way too many brands and diffrerent units for each brand . Money is not that much of an object how ever would like to stay under $500 . I am very confused . I want a touch screen soemthing with the most to offer w/o an mp3 player any body have any adive to offer
