Should I put my 6x8 speakers in a box or just mount them without a complete box?

Question:
I am going to put Pioneer 6x8 three way speakers in the trunk of my car mounted to the side of my subwoofer box. I have pioneer premier four ways in all my doors and two audiobahn subs each in a vented box in my trunk. The three ways i have are what was in my dorr before the premiers and are still in good shape. I am planning on putting two in my trunk hooked up tp a 100 watt rms amp. I want more sound, not just bass, when my trunk is open, so do i need to buils a box for the 6x8's, if so about how big should it be. Or should i just mount them and leave the back of a box out, so the speaker is operating in open air?

Answers:

Is it bad to use an 800 watt amp with 350 watt wiring? What would happen?

unless you want bass from them i would just mount them in the trunk with no box. it sounds like you just want the high and mids from them, so a box isnt neccessary

Alright heres another kicker L7(two 12"-750rms)question what amp is recomended?

No dude you need a box

Want to purchase some tweeters?

I would think that you would need some type of enclosure especially considering that you are going to mount them in the trunk.
