Does Kenwood and MA audio make good amplifiers?

Here's what I did, I got a new Pioneer MP3/CD player for about 100bux. The enclosure makes a big difference in your subwoofer. You only need 1 sub to get decent bass. and it's cheaper to work with. So, choose 1 sub, 10 or 12 inch. Put it in the right enclosure size, ported I got mine in a snail shell.
Find the amp to power your subwoofer.

Multi channel system?

Hook up your front speakers straight to the CD player, your amp will power your sub, and forget about the rear speakers, for they're just rear fill, not needed.

Whats the relationship between between subs and amps and watts and that whole thing?

Concentrate on your sub enclosure to get the most of your sub. Then concentrate on powering your subwoofer, ANY subwoofer will sound good if it's powered right, if it's in the right kinda box with the right dimensions, and if it's tuned. 80% installer 20% equipment.
