Question:
i have a boss 1600w 4-channle amp boosting my 2 subs, and have all speakers currently in my car hooked up to the factory harnesses on no amplifiers. i plan on adding 2 more speakers, and for these i bought a crappy walmart amp so as to power them just right. i heard if u run 2 different brand amps together you can fry your system. is this true? and if so then tell me how / why this is so. thanks!

I have had several systems in different cars. I have rarely used the same brand amps or even matching brand speakers(highs and lows) as far as systems go. Certain brands make good high power amps and some make good smaller amps. The same goes for speakers. The trick is to get the system set up correctly. The smaller amp will need smaller gage(bigger number) wire and as well as the speaker cables. Remember as well a good investment is a crossover to keep the high tones with the higher range speakers and the lower tones with the subs. This will prevent sound spikes that could damage your speakers. Remember as well to have a good ground and enough power to push all of your amps and speakers. A second battery or a power cap usually 1 farad per 1000 watts of power. As long as your installation and wiring is good you will be just fine.Audio Master AM100 MP3. operating manual?

as long as your wire everything up correctly (by crutchfieldadvior or your user manual) there shouldn't be a problem. haveing two amps of the same brand or two brand name amps shouldn't be a problem at all as long as you follow the rules with installing and wiring. o ya and also make sure that you have wiring and a battery cap that is good enough for both of the amps, not just oneMore Questions & Answers ...
