Sound system for my car?

ok my friend is giving me a 200 watt and a 700 watt amp (thats two amps) and i wanna get some subwoofers in my car. rite now all that is in it is factory speakers (its a 2006 nissan sentra). i dont know if im supposed to get subs that have lower watts than my amp or what? i really dont get it can sum1 help me?

ok what i would do is if the 200 watt amp is a four channel then hook that up to the speakers in the car, then i would get two 400 or 500 watt subs. that way you dont really have to worry about blowin ur subs but they will still hit hard

Factory speakers won't take anywhere near the wattage of the bigger amp. They might be able to handle the smaller one, but don't bet on it. You won't want to use all that power unless you're working for a hearing aid company and can get free ones when your ears give out. If you turn up the volume too much and the speaker isn't rated that high, you'll blow it out. I would suggest getting subs with a rating at 300 watts, and getting a fuse for the one that you connect to the 700 watt amp, just to be on the safe side.

What are some 6 1/2 and 6X9 quality speakers for about $60 per set?
