Car stereo plays 4 short time, then starts to cut in and out (crack), makes high-pitched noise, then no sound?

Question:
It's a Sony CD player. Amplifier is under front seat. If I tap on the player when it is starting to have problems, it crackles some, but then eventually all sound is gone. After a while, the sound will come back on like there is nothing wrong - short-lived of course. No one has looked at it yet, but I was told it may be the amp gone bad. I don't know anything about installing or repairing stereos, but if it is the amp, can I just disable it? I have a 92' Camry and I will probably be getting another vehicle in a few months, so I don't want to have to buy any new equiptment, but I do need my tunes!

Im gettin these L7 15s what amp should i get and what crossover and should i get 2 or 4 ohms?

to disable the amp just unplug the audio and the pwr going into the amp to make sure its disabled then give the radio a try. that's if your powering subs, if its for your main speakers then they obviously wont work. if its not the amp then maby its a speaker wire grounding out on something.

Can you bridge 2 12'' subs into a mono amp?

Sounds like the RCA cable or speaker wires are shorting out. It could be internal to the amp or CD but you just can't know without a bit of diagnostic. If it's a cable or wire, it's an easy fix. If it's the amp, you can get a cheapo replacement. Hopefully it's not the CD.

Where can I get a Wiring Harness for mitsubishi pajero 1996 to Sony Stereo?

I had the same problem with a Rockford/Fosgate amp.
It was overheating and cutting out. It would cool off, work again, same crackle too. Your power goes through the amp, so disconnecting it will kill your sound. You have to bypass it completely. If you arent sure how, have it done by a pro.

How can I play my Ipod on a 2006 Lexus RX 330?

It could be in the power supply, had a computer the would turn on in the morning for 1/2 hour and then quit. Wait 15 minutes it would turn on again but for shorter and shorter periods.

I want to install a sound system in my car but not sure which way to go, and cost affective too?

Turned out when they had assembled it they had neglected to screw down all corners of the power supply board. As it heated up it would stop working because it would warp because of the heat build up. Screwed down the corners and never had a problem with after that.

Which is a better sub and amp?

Hope you problem is as simple.
