Question:
Can someone please give me detailed instructions on hooking up aftermarket head unit in my 2002 Chevy Avalanche with onstar. I have hooked up several systems, but none have given me the problems this truck has. I am using a wiring harness that the local audio shop recommended and they are pretty knowledgeable. It is not the PAC harness, that might be my problem. I can get everything to come on but with lots of engine noise and some weird popping. Also, how do I bypass my factory amp? Any advice is much appriciated.

with the Avalanche, it's hard to get past the factory amp unless you completely rewire the vehicle, which you're pretty much screwed unless you want to completely dump the OnStar. the GMRC-01 harness from PAC is your best way to go, if you want to keep your OnStar... and you lost your door chime too, huh? the cheapest i have seen that harness and bypass is like $60, and that was on eBay.Why wont my 2001 honda civic play my cd-r?
happy hunting. your best bet (honestly) is to completely rewire the whole ride. that way you'll get exactly what you want.
