Car sub and speakers?

Question:
if i have a 500watt amp and my speakers are 300 watt is it possible to run a sub woofer throught the amp aswell any ideas? would it effect perfomance of anything?

you wouldnt want to do that. reason being is sinse the amp is a mono amp, its probably a sub amp. which means it will not put out high freqs. which means your speakers will only get sub freqs. which means you'll probably end up blowing them. so you can it do, but i really really wouldnt recomend it.

depends how many channels your amp is. 2 channels means 2 speakers. Unless you bridge to channels to run a sub or subs, depends if your amp is capable of that. I would need to know more to help you.

Two channels doesn't HAVE to be two speakers, it can be more or less (if bridgeable).

no it isnt because normal speakers use 2 or 3 way sound. subs use mono tone sound. to run a sub you need a low pass filter i.e only bass.
