I have had this happen before. Most likely the only thing that has failed is the backlighting which is what makes the Liquid Crystal Display visible. The truth is it ....can...be repaired or replaced but finding someone to do it will be nearly impossible and more cosltly than worth while. Your only realistic options are to replace the head unit or use it as you have been.
