...is it possible to get one that takes home-made CD's, ie CD's that I have pu songs on after downloading from Limewire?! And am I wrong in thinking that you can only download MP3 format from Limewire, so therefore the car CD player would have to be MP3 compatible!?

most current cd players will play homemade discs whether they say it or not and some will play mp3 format discs.
a lot of the time when you download music and burn it to a disc the music is going to be the regular cd format unless you specifficly tell it to burn an mp3 disc, which if you downloaded them it won't lose any quality and you can fit A LOT of songs on one disc

You need to be aware of the file format that you are downloading - it could be WMA, MP3 etc and the cd player may not play these formats. If you get a cd player that supports MP3 then you have got both bases covered in terms of formats - audio & mp3/WMA etc.
