Question:
What are some of the ways I can tell if my subwoofer box is too small? When I turn my volume up high I hear more vent noise, distortion, and it doesnt sound as loud. Is the box too small or do I need a larger vented port? Someone help me out a little on this... One more question is about my amplifier. Sometimes when I play my music loud for about 15-20 mins the amp will shut off until I crank my car again... Is it because it is not getting enough voltage? Because my caps will read as low as 10 volts sometimes. So if you can answer these questions I would appreciate it alot!
Answers:
As far as the amp goes, you are going into protection because of heat or because of power issues. If your power fluctuates too much, or if the amplifier gets too hot, it will automatically shut down until you reset it. Turning your car off and on resets it with the remote wire signal. If your "caps" read 10V sometimes, then you are drawing power from them faster than your alternator can supply current, which sounds like it could be a connection issue, because you battery should be quickly charging the caps back up to 12V after a big bass hit. Check your wiring, check your battery, and make sure you're not overdrawing from your alternator.
Subs and ohms.... how is it calculated and how does it work?
If theres distortion sounds coming out of the sub, then most likely you are not running enough power to the woofer from your amp. distortion is usually caused by the lack of power. As for your amp shutting down after 20 mins, not so sure why. sorry. How to add an dummy alarm led to my car and make it flash only when ignition is off?
Okay, for question #1, the sub box...go to the manufacturers site for your sub, they tell you the exact recommended specifications for your sub...end of storyWho many watts can a kicker 12''inch l7 handel??
Question #2, you make it sound like sometimes you're listening to your car stereo (with subs, etc.) with your car off...if that's right, that's your problem...if I'm wrong in that assumption, then, we'll assume you mean even if your car is on, your amp is shutting off after a period of time...in all electronic applications, there's only a few reasons for that...
How do you set the clock on a new pioneer super tuner?
A: you don't have an adequate ground running from you amp to the chassis of your car (it must be bare metal, i.e. no paint)
SVC vs. DVC subwoofer? advantages and disadvantages?
B: It's overheating...other than a bad ground, this can just be caused from a setting, like the gain being at max., if your gain is at max., and it needs to be...time for a bigger amp.
now, you say cap"s", are you running your caps in series or parrallel? or are they run individually from a distributor block to each sub from your amp?
What kind of enclosure should i get 10" subs?
you need a higher alternator output to keep up with your stereo. Try insulation fiber in the box. This gives the box the ability to slow down sound waves as if it where in a bigger box. I doubt that the port is causing this problem. However you didn't state what speaker and amp your using or size of box, so it's hard to say what the issue is.The bigger the sub the more distortion you'll have regardless. You may not be getting enough power to generate the amp to full power. your amp may be too big for the sub. Can't just go by wattage. Best to match up a set. Your sub may not be meant for a ported enclosure.
So many things it could be.
My gamin ique 3600 satellite navigation is frozen and i don't know what to do please help me?
Sounds to me like it is the ground your using. 12 AWG is too small of a wire for that complex of a setup. I would never use a ground wire smaller than my power wire. Power needs a smooth transition thru its paces. Going from a 4 AWG + wire to a 12 AWG + wire can cause overheating due to the lack of smooth eletrical flow.More Questions & Answers ...
