co-axial means the 'speakers' are mounted as one unit, ie on the same axis, like when you have tweeters in the middle of the woofer, components are just that, components! you have a separate tweeter, woofer and a crossover to split the signal accordingly! you generally get better quality sound from components, many reasons which im sure you dont really want to know, which means t hey cost more! :)
