I need to hook up speakers to the stereo in my truck. Husband says I cant do it. Help me prove him wrong.?

depending on the vehicle the striped wire can be - or +. the easiest way to find out is to take the new speaker and hook it up and turn the radio on. when it is on turn it up and look at the speaker. when bass hits the speaker should go out then in. if you have it backwards the speaker will suck in then go out. hope this helps.

Usually the one with the stripe is positive. But dont fret, even if you go wrong the speakers will still work. Just make sure to wire them the same way for all speakers.

Often times each speaker's wires are a different color so you can find left, right, front and rear. An easy solution is to purchase a speaker adapter wiring kit. Crutchfield and Circuit City both carry these. It makes it very easy to simply plug the speaker to the wire adapter, then plug the adapter into the factory wiring of your truck.
