Question:
My stereo loses power when I let off the accelerator. I bought a 1979 gmc jimmy that someone previously broke into and stole the stereo equipment out of.
I have installed an old deck that i had laying around and a couple of speakers. Now if i am not mistaken of the wires on the back of the decks wire harness one wire goes to constant hot, one goes to ignition hot, one goes to ground, then you have the speaker wires. of the wires that originally fed the stereo I found a yellow that is ignition hot, black (assuming ground), and grey?(Neither constant or ignition hot). I found no constant hot. Chiltons doesnt give the wiring diagram for the stereo. The previous owner had ran a fused wire from the battery to the deck.
I attached the constant hot on my deck to the wire that runs from the battery and the ignition hot to the yellow wire which originally went to the stock deck.
The battery and alt. are both new and upgraded and functioning properly. Any ideas would be great

when i turn my aftermarket radio down my sub doesnt go down?
normally dimming lights and power loss are due to a bad battery or alternator (or both). Try upgrading the 'big three' and see if that helps. Use 0 gauge amplifier wire if you can (stock is usually 4 gauge). The big 3 are: Alt+ to Battery+, Battery - to Chassis, and Engine ground to chassis.how do you install a system in your car to the factory radio?
Other than that, it may just be HOW you installed the stereo, because if it only loses power when the engine revs down, then its an alternator problem, seeing as how you said you're alternator's new, you may have to take it to a professional if the big 3 doesnt help.
