Alot of things factor into how your subs will sound. One of the first things is of course the amp. Getting enough power to your subs is very importnat. While we're on the amp, make sure your low pass filter is on, and that your frequencies are set properly. For subs, somewhere between 80-100 Hz is where you want to be. make sure that your gain and dB boost isn't too high either, it might make the sub crackle which is not a good thing.

OK A 400 WATT AMP IS ONLY REALLY 200 PER CHANNEL 2X200 1X400 BRIGGED YOU WILL NEED A 600 WATT AMP 2X300 FOR WHAT U WANT 300 WATTS PER CHANNEL IF UR SPEAKERS ARE 300 WATTS EACH.buy a stiffening cap, if you dont hold a constant voltage it will never sound amazing as you say.just think of the drain in power every time you hit that bass note as a glass of water,the louder you get it(more you drink),the more it takes the alternator to(fill it back up).
