I have a 1800 watt dvc subwoofer how do i get less power out of both coils?

Question:
2 questions i have a power acoustik 1800 watt dvc subwoofer i want to get less power out of it and i heard running 1 voice coil is bad for the subwoofer because it shortens the life should i set the speaker at 8ohms my amp is 800 watts i want the full 800 watts but if i go over my amp turns off

What may be wrong with my CD deck?

which is another issue right now im running one coil at 4 ohms and my subs either messing up or something is not wired right or the amp is losing life when i turn it up it turns red but when i used to plug in a 500 watt fosgate sub it sounded louder and never made the amp go bad i could play it for a long time and it would never turn red this sub sounds dissorented and makes the amp turn red i thought if i 8 ohm it it would work better wat do u think

Answers:

What would be the best box to run a 12 inch kicker solox s12x-1 in. and where would i be able to get it?

8ohm would make the amp put out a lot less power. what is the amp model? it would make it easier to help u knowing that
