Question:
the technical name is swr-1042d. i have two of them in a box. they got 1500 watts peak each and 500 rms each. at 4 ohm's. could you give me a list of amps that would work with these. even crappy amps. i dont have alot of money. like 300 dollars at the most. if you could give me a list of amps that would be strong enough and under 300 dollars that would be awesome.
Answers:
do car speakers need to be in an airtight box?
Don't be fooled by numbers. Peak is useless... that is the point at which the speaker coils would melt down. RMS is more useful, but you could never tolerate 500 watts RMS. LOUD in a car would be about 10 watts RMS (audio [AC] swings from positive to negative, passing 0 watts each time).Having said that, if 10 watts RMS is loud, doubling the apparent volume without perceptible distortion requires TEN TIMES RMS amp output. The best guideline is to make sure the amp's output is greater than the RMS speaker rating.
High output = $... the components in the amp required are much
more costly at high current values.
Describe what your car horn sounds like...?
In a nutshell.. don't be fooled by speaker ratings... better a 200 watt/channel quality amp than a cheap 1000 watt/channel questionable amp...
my tape deck only plays out of one speaker in my car but the radios fine any ideas?
your asking for an impossible answer. I wouldnt want to push that nice a speaker with a cheap amp it will be more likly to damage the unitMy Car amplifier keeps over heating?
