its 12v an easy way to put this into perspective is to think of it as you were hooking up the remote on your amp directly to the power right next to it.which is coming from your battery which is 12v..keep in mind the amp will be on all the time if you hook it up that way and don't put a switch on it.Linn kans mk1.suitable amplification.?

The remote signal is 12VDC for on, but I'm not sure where the threshold lies between on and off states. You might want to check continuity between your ignition power and your remote terminal of the amp. Sounds like some voltage is dropping, or you have a short.
