Question:
Hi I have a 2002 Nissan Maxima with 2 12 inch Kicker L7s 4 ohms in a regular sealed box hooked up with a Hifonics bxi1606d at 1 ohm also I have a 1.0 fared capacitor hooked up with it I don’t have any other equipment upgrades like bigger alternator or a extra battery but my question is that I just hooked up every thing together and it sounds like im not even pushing 1600 watts RMS that’s what the amp I have says that it pushes 1600 watts RMS at 1 ohm why is that? Do I need a bigger box cause I have a small one or do I need a ported or vented box or what do I have to do to make it sound louder?

if your speakers are single voice coil and you have them wired in parallel your amp is only seeing 2 ohms so you are probably only pushing 800 watts if they are dual voice coil 4 ohms per coil then take all 4 positive wires from the speakers to the positive side of the speaker terminal of the amp and all 4 negative wires from the speakers to the negative side of the speaker terminal of the amp and it will see 1 ohm as for the box kicker calls for .88 to 2.0 cubic ft of air space for a sealed box and 1.75 to 3.25 cubic ft of air space for vented box and you should be running 2 gauge power and ground wires with that powerMore Questions & Answers ...
